In Class: ideas about observation feedback

This is a make up in class writing, because that day i was taken to the hospital and didn't post it on my blog.
i think i need to observe more carefully and probably focus on the detail about everything I observed. It seems like the things what i have already observed were not enough for an essay. Like i need to think about what type of people are going into the PF Changs? Does the demographic change during the day? what type of drinks are they ordering? and so on.

In class: First paragraph

Upon driving down to Throckmorton Street in downtown Fort Worth, you will find a restaurant called P.F. Chang’s China Bistro at the corner of the street. The big sign of this restaurant is really conspicuous, and I bet you will never miss it. P F Chang’s China Bistro is an authentic Chinese restaurant that has antique decoration, comfortable atmosphere, and delicious food. It opens from 11a.m. to 10p.m. from Sunday to Thursday, and 11a.m. to 11p.m. from Friday to Saturday.

In class: Group workshop

I have joined in this kind of group workshop many times in last two years. I think i would like it. remember, when i first go to essay workshop i was so nervious about it, because i was thinking my essay was the worse in the group. i usually don't have full confidence about my essay, because at that time my english was not really good. i was worried about that the readers can understand what i am talking about or not. However, now, i am feel free to share my essay to others.
Anyway, it is really good to work with each other. you can learn a lot from others' essaies.

In Class:observation

The restaurant which is i went to is really as my expect. they have good food, nice environment and people from everywhere are all enjoy the meals.
However, there has two things out of my expect. one is P F Chang is really Chinese. as you know, some of the Chinese restaurants in the USA are not very Chinese. they are kinda like America- Chinese restaurant or American-asian restaurant. P F Chang is very Chinese and traditional it is why i like it. anther thing is the line is so long which is out of my expect. it is a good thing for a restaurant, but not really good for us. i think most of us are could like to wait for a good meal.

The ethos, pathos and logos of my public space

Thinking about ethos, pathos and logos into our spaces is a good way to enrich our essays.

For my space, after I went to my favorite restaurant P F Chang several times, there is one thing I really define that is the line is always very long if you get there after 6 on weekend. Because most of people want to go there eat dinner not lunch. It spent me a long time on waiting for a table. However, we took a walk in downtown and took some pictures for my research.

Ethos is an appeal to credibility and character. I think the long line shows Ethos certainly. Long line means many people may like it very much. It also means this restaurant has its own character that other restaurant does not have. It attracts many people from everywhere absolutely.

Pathos is about emotion. This restaurant shows it in many areas. I also want to talk about the line. People in the line are usually sitting on the benches which are in the front of the restaurant. They are normally listening to the iPod, chatting, calling friends or taking pictures. These are all showing their different emotions when they are waiting. The environment here is just so comfy even you are in the line.

Logos is an appeal to logic. The line is a fact from my observation. It proves P F Chang has high popularity as a evidence.

in class: logos

Today i brought a balance sheet of American eagle.
The balance sheet is what i borrow from my friend . it gave me more ideals about learning accounting. it was really helpful. however, i also bought it to english class, because i thought it shows logos. there have many items in the balance sheet and statistics shows how was this company doing in the last year. Which is appear to logos.

Proposal

I decided to change my mind from writing a big mall to writing a Chinese restaurant. The restaurant what I am going to write is P F Chang’s China Bistro. It is located in downtown Fort Worth.

This restaurant appeals to me because it is the best Chinese restaurant I have never go in Fort Worth. They have wonderful food within a variety of price ranges from vegetable plate to sea bass and both delicious! The service is impeccable with going above and beyond to meet guest expectations. The worst thing is that it usually very crowded until later. Remember when I went to P F Chang first time, my friends and I did not get an empty table until over ten p.m.. However, the wait staff was prompt and never left us wanting a thing, so that made up for the long line. By the way they always give us a ton of food. We were all stuffed and had more than enough to bring home for later. This is why I choose P F Chang as my space. I really enjoy when I sit in the P F Chang.

What I expect to find upon observation is going to be a restaurant which is clean, tidy and have something special. It must be different from other Chinese restaurants and have an advantage of other traditional restaurants. Like what I have already found there was a statue of Qin Terra-Cotta Warrior stand in front of the restaurant. What an amazing! It is so Chinese and gorgeous. I was so excited to seeing Qin Terra-Cotta Warrior in America.

I am part of audience absolutely. The wait staff also does. I think everybody get into this restaurant is part of audience.

I do not think there have pre-conceived ideas may influence my observation. If there is, I will try my best to overcome these obstacles. I will try to get there more times to observe more things that I did not discover.

In class: Ethos

i brought a letter from modern language department. It shows that i have already hired as a Chinese tutor at fall. i have already took the peer training before i start to work. I will work from Monday to Friday and get payment 10 per hours which is really awesome.
the letter which is my prof. gave me and support me to apply a social security number. this is important for me. and also i am so happy to get a job. this letter shows all information about my job and my situation which is means ethos.

In class: public space about pathos

I am going to pick a big mall as the public space what i am going to write. in a mall, in one hand, you can see most of people enjoy shopping, hang out with their families or friends. they smile, laugh, some of them take a picture etc. they all shows that their emotions which is happy. in the another hand, you also can see some kids cry because their parents do not want to the thing which is kid like. these all show the different emotions which is sad, not happy ect.

In Class: About Pathos

The thing what i bring today is a poster from an Chinese movie. the movie name is earthquake in Tangshan. in the summer, i can see every movie theater have played on, and many people bring napkin when they are going to see this movie.

let me describe this big poster firstly. in the middle of this poster , there has a little kid stand lonely, just with his toy. why there is only himself , because he can not find his parents and friends. they are all died during the big earthquake. in the background there is all buildings destroyed.

Different ways of argument

There are several kinds of arguments in this advertisement. These are all make the advertisement more trusty.

Arguments to inform—in the beginning of this video, BP said that her work is to helping others affected by the oil spill and let the oil spill end. She listens to the shrimpers, fishermen, hotel and restaurant workers., and finds ways to help. She informed the audience about her main purpose, specific information and what she has already did. It makes the audience and I pay closer attention to her advertisement.

Arguments to convince—BP also showed some statistics to us. For example, she said “We have 19 centers in 4 states. We've made over 120,000 claims payments, more than 375 million dollars. We’ve committed 20 billion dollars to an independent claims fund to cover lost income until people impacted can get back to work.” It makes her work trusty. She has already done a lot of things to make the Gulf under control. The fact convinces viewers and may be encourage more people join in her community.

Arguments about future-- BP told us that she is going to stay in the Gulf until the oil is gone and the people and businesses are back to normal." It shows that she believes if she makes an effort to save the Gulf in the future, the Gulf will like what it looks like in the past.

Invitational argument—the ad shows viewers their community’s goal “making this right”, objective which is restore communities, economics and environment. It also shows the phone number for viewer to get more importations. The purpose of doing these is to encourage people who really interested in to join in them.

Rogerian argument—Iris said she’s just a normal person, was born in New Orleans. It shortened the distance between speaker and audience. This is what rogerian argument is, attempting to find common ground within opposing points of view.
